Garstang Running Club’s own ten mile race the GUY’S 10 was won in record time by Antony Ford of Sale Harriers in 48.52 beating Ben Fish of Blackburn Harriers by nine seconds.  Gary Priestley of Horwich Harriers was third in 53.12.  The first 19 finishers broke the one hour barrier including the first lady Candice Taylor of Clayton le Moors who clocked 59.19 just over a minute ahead of Gemma Unsworth of Blackpool Wyre and Fylde who was half a minute ahead of the third lady Sarah Ridehalgh of Accrington Road Runners.  Impressive times, not least because all of the 367 finishers had to negotiate several “lakes” around the lanes of Elswick.  For Garstang Running Club Mike Whyatt finished an impressive 8th in 54.58 followed by Richard Jones who was 41st in 62.21, knocking minutes off his PB – this really does deserve praise, but of course he will not be getting any!  Julie Graham and Pam Murphy finished 282nd and 283rd in 1.28.45 and 1.28.50, four places and 25 seconds ahead of Marc Saysell with Peter Gelderd, making a welcome return to racing 324th in 1.36.52 and Jane Sheriff in 347th in 1.41.53.  As ever thanks go to all the marshals, without whom there would be no race, but in particular Guy’s Thatched Hamlet for their generous sponsorship.
