It happens every year, and can only be explained by the "New Year Resolution syndrome", the Garstang 10K was full to overflowing several weeks before the event.  Starting and finishing at the High School 442 runners completed the course with a turn out of 14 from Garstang Running Club.  First back for the club, and fourth overall was Mike Whyatt in 32.32 minutes, just 37 seconds behind the winner.  Mike was followed by Richard Roberts 28th in 37.58, Tony Pritchard 46th in 39.37, Al Hartley 75th in 41.29, Tim Warner 78th in 41.37, Dave Old 89th in 42.18, Helen Vinnicombe 127th in 44.47, Malcolm Vinnicombe 134th in 45.02, new member Greg Hunter 170th in 46.38, Edwina Parry 245th in 50.15, Philippa Olive 251st in 50.41, Denise Hughes 334th in 55.48, Tracey Winter 397th in 61.25 and Paul Cronshaw 402nd in 62.05 minutes.

148 competitors took part in the two mile fun run including Pippy Haywood and young Katie Haywood who finished 83rd and 84th with Katie no doubt wishing Mum could go a bit faster!!
