Dave Neilands reports . . . .

Dave Barraclough of Garstang Running Club took over the “Action Man” mantle recently when he competed in all four races in four days of Tour of Fylde race series.  Consisting of a six mile road race, 4 mile beach race, six mile cross country and culminating in ten mile road race Dave finished an overall second in his MV50 age group.  Obviously he was short of something to do over Easter!

The usual “action man” Richard Roberts was out on the fell for the Rivington Pike Fell race where he finished 51st of the 227 competitors.  That other “holdy handy action man” Richard Jones finished off his London Marathon training with a burst of speed at the Three Bridges 10K at Lancaster.  Sadly his burst of speed was not enough to catch 122 other competitors, including Al Hartley who finished 54th in 41.39 with Richard outspeeding 248 other competitors in 46.17.  “Distant” member Jane Holt took part in the hilly Newcastle Under Lyne 7 mile road race where she finished 164th out of 273 in 57.14.  Last but not least Pete Gelderd returned to racing after his latest career threatening injury (probably number 102 – he has found his hamstring) at the Ribchester Roman Road race which might have been a short 10k.  As Pete finished 67 out 98 in 52.07 there is no doubt at all it was short!!
