Dave Neilands reports . . . .

Despite clashing with several other events in the North West, Garstang Running Club?s own Gallop 10K drew a good field of 173 for the hilly event around the back roads of Barnacre and Scorton.  The race was turned into something of a procession by Rick Hayman of Sale Harriers who completed the course in 33.02 minutes approx one and a half minutes ahead of Garstang resident, but Wesham Road runner Charlie Pass.  The ladies race was won by Beverley Wright of Blackpool Wyre and Fylde in 43.48.  Garstang fielded 6 runners who were relieved of marshalling duties with Al Hartley finishing 29th in 42.49, Dave Heslop 36th in 43.43,  Greg Hunter 55th in 46.56, Pam Murphy 105th in 52.37, Mike Hall 116th in 54.45 and Omar Aboo 172nd in 1.11.11.

On the same day 305 runners turned out on the fells near Chipping for the Paddy's Pole race, including Richard Roberts who finished 143rd in 36.06 minutes.
