The annual series of four Harrock Hill races are one of Denise Hughes
of Garstang Running Club’s favourite races. It nearly did
not remain so, because after giving everything to finish 88th she was
informed she had done quite well but still failed to beat the blind
person running in front of her!! Mr Cape Wrath, Richard Roberts also took part failing only to beat 20 greyhounds running in front of him.
The arduous 21K Garburn Trail
race in Lake District turned into an organizer’s nightmare when
some kind soul sabotaged the kilometre markers for the first 6K,
removed the water station and stole 2kg of Kendal Mint Cake –
apparently police are looking for a fat guy with sweet tooth who cannot
walk more than 6k.
Thanks to some fine work by the organizers the race went ahead as planned and for the club Tim Warner finished 116th in 1 hour 57.41, Richard Jones 145th in 2 hours and 56 seconds (was he weighed down by mint cake?) and Julie Graham 300th in 2 hours 29.34 minutes
