Could it be that at the advanced age of “just over 21” Garstang Running Club’s Malcolm Vinnicombe is trying to inject some speed into his running?  After two full marathons earlier this year Malcolm has competed in two 10K’s – known as the long distance runners sprint.  At the Hawkshead 10k in the Lake District he finished 77th out of 111 in 47.59 minutes and 3rd MV60 whilst at the Lancaster 10K he improved his time by over a minute to finish 100th out of 232 finishers in 46.33 minutes and 2nd MV60.  Also at Lancaster were Dave Old, 31st in 40.09, Al Hartley 33rd in 40.23, Richard Jones 50th in 41.41 and Greg Hunter 69th in 43.32.

Just when you may have thought a week had gone by without a mention of Richard Roberts up he pops again!!  This time it was at the second of a series of four Harrock Hill races where he finished 27th in a field of 123.  Denise Hughes did not take part in her favourite race – is she still upset – the last time she did it she was told she had run well but had just been outsprinted by a blind runner!
