Dave Neilands reports . . . .
Tim Warner of Garstang Running Club had yet another go at cracking the 4 hour “barrier” at the largely flat Snowdon Marathon but due to incompatible weather and perhaps anno domini “failed” by a mere 8 minutes taking 525th place in a field of 1178 finishers which also included 25 runners who dropped out en route – must have been the boring flat course. As speed training for Snowdonia Tim was 111th at Manchester Swinton Half Marathon finishing in 1 hour 36.22 minutes.
Distant member Jane Holt finished 160th in the Flying Fox 10 in Staffordshire in 1 hour 20.10 minutes whilst closer to home at the Through the Villages Race near Chorley Richard Jones finished 92nd in a field of 333 in 59.32 minutes followed by Phil Dixon 243rd in 1.13.08 and Denise Hughes 287th in 1.18.02.
The Mid Lancs Cross Country season moved on to
Burnley and for a change the club was able to raise a full team with
Mike Whyatt finishing 11th, Tony Pritchard 110th, Geoff Lyons –
running two consecutive events – Craig Menzies 162nd – how
much faster might he go with proper footwear – Richard Jones
185th – complaining again (?) and Geoff Lund 232nd –
running his first cross country event for 3 years after his world tour
– of the 251 finishers.
