Dave Neilands reports . . . .

Probably because he knew he would eat too much Christmas Pud Garstang Running Club’s Richard Jones ran two races over the Christmas period. He was on his own at the Red Nose 5 miler at Blackpool where, in a field of 179 he finished 68th in 38.23 minutes. Pete Gelderd was Richard’s constant (almost) companion at the Leyland 10k where suspect times were recorded. Richard finished 71st in, supposedly 40.54 and Pete 170th in 50.04. However there is a strong possibility that the timings were wrong and all 266 competitors received a time of approx 20 seconds quicker than they actually achieved – Pete for one was grateful!

At the Ribble Valley 10K at Clitheroe, where a field of 841 usually means that runners have to queue to finish the club was led home by Al Hartley 280th in 42.40, followed by Greg Hunter 294th in 43.05, Tim Warner 297th, Malcolm Vinnicombe 373th in 45.44, Phil Dixon 544th in 49 50, Pete Gelderd 593rd in 51.49, Denise Hughes 646th in 53.35 and Debbie (only one B and no E at the end) Spencer 734th in 57.45 minutes.

Yet another year has slipped by with this correspondent being unable to run on medical grounds, and miraculously for the second consecutive year his times from previous years have improved enormously!!
