Dave Neilands reports . . . .

Perhaps the person who “accidentally” took Geoff Lunds’ cross country shoes at the end of the Mid Lancs event at Hyndburn did not know that all Geoff’s running shoes are programmed in slow mode. There can be no other explanation – and the kind person left Geoff with a grotty pair to wear on his next outing. Seven runners from Garstang Running Club for the event was testament to captain Tony Pritchard’s “persuasion” techniques with Mike Whyatt finishing 6th, Tony Pritchard 87th, Phil Cornall 91st, Craig Menzies 109th, Geoff Lyons 110th – teams are supposed to “bunch” but not that far down the field – Martin Knowles 124th and Geoff Lund – at that point still in possession of his own shoes – 149th of the 169 finishers.
The Blackburn Winter Warmer 10k saw Richard Roberts make a fleeting visit from his current occupation of terrorising Scottish motorists and pedestrians with his omnibus to lead the club home in 68th place in 40.54 minutes with Greg Hunter 101st in 43.55 and Pete Gelderd 240th in 52.26 and Denise Hughes 263rd in 53.31 – perhaps they stayed out that long as they were enjoying the sunshine, it could not possibly have been the formidable hills!
Denise, who likes her hill races, was joined at the Parbold Hill Race by Philippa Olive and 456 other finishers with Philippa finishing the muddy course in 312th place in 1 hour 4 minutes and Denise finishing 362nd in 1 hour 8 minutes
