Dave Neilands reports . . . .
Races galore in July meant that 13 Garstang Running Club members donned their racing shoes throughout Europe . Sue Richmond was the sole club member at the Cuerden Trail 10k where she finished 81st of the 101 competitors in 57.13 minutes. Richard Jones was also on his own at the Inter Club 4.5 mile fixture at Salwick where he finished 40th of the 214 finishers in 27.35. He was not on his own at the Round the Park Relay at Blackpool – the name of this team was “stuck with the outlaws” so can you guess who he ran with – individually finishing 14th out of 66 finishers. The Rosemere 10k at Catforth had 4 club members with Tim Warner 76th in a field of 207 in 46.42, Sue Richmond 100th in 50.16, Mike Hall 139th in 54.33 and Debilitating Spencer 154th in 56.17. The Trentham 10 miler near Stoke saw Jane Holt set a PB of 1 hour 17.24 minutes and finishing second Lady Vet 40 on a two lap hilly course. The Gisburn Grind Trail Race was as tough as it sounds but Dave Heslop finished an excellent 13th and Tim Warner 22nd in a small field of 40. It was fast and flat for the Lancaster 10k with Richard Jones again dipping under 40 minutes for 16th place in 39.18, Dave Old 23rd in 40.55, Greg Hunter 60th in 45.15, Malcolm Vinnicombe 71st and second MV60 in 46.41, Helen Hunter 140th in 53.12 and Mike Hall 164th of 204 finishers in 55.59 minutes.
